AQUILEGIA
SITUATION: A sunny, well drained position is preferred, but they can also be grown in semi-shade. Prepare soil by working through some well-rotted manure, complete fertiliser or similar before planting. Aquilegias are best grown in cool climate regions. TIME OF PLANTING: June to August. Plant with the crown at surface level and space 30-40 cm apart. GENERAL CARE: Water regularly in dry weather. Top dress with some fertiliser or liquid feed when flower buds start to form. Aquilegias flower spring-summer and are excellent cut flowers. Plants will last for years in cool climates. In warmer climates, plants may need to be replaced every 2 or 3 years for best results.
